Our History
The Wilderness Scouts began in Taylors SC on November 23, 2006 as a club that I, Stephanie Magnuson, invented for my younger siblings and a friend. It was very small-scale but we did have quite a few meetings and we went tubing on a river after raising money. When I moved to Ohio, I started it up again, with the help of some other ladies. We had four elementary through middle school girls who consistently came, plus a few who came now and then. Sometimes their moms, who were involved, would teach lessons or devotionals, and I did as well. We would also have refreshments and a game at each meeting.
We had lots of fun, learned a lot, and went on a camping trip. Now we have a chapter in Greenville, SC.
We are centering on five focus areas, which are Adventuring Outdoors, Homesteading, Living in Health, Being Disciples of our Creator Jesus Christ, and Fellowship.
These five areas all tie in very closely with the idea of living in a way that makes use of the natural blessings Jesus has given us.
